      1. You know, my old Saskatchewan farmer uncle saw mountains as impediments. I took him to a viewpoint (which I thought was impressive) and asked what he thought of them. He said they were OK but they kind of blocked the view! I suppose they do block the way and are really hard to plow. I just got back from a long drive from a town near Calgary. I probably could have done it in a quarter of the time if there weren’t so many mountains to drive around, but I see them more as majestic heights, and rock fortresses now. Jesus took his friends up on top of a mountain to let them in on a pretty marvelous meeting. Maybe associating mountains with a mountain-top experience IS learning to see impediments through God’s eyes. Maybe impediments are meant to lift us up as well.
