Seriously?

Yesterday I scrambled down a deep ditch and through brambles and thickets and barbed wire looking for a pond I remembered that might still have colourful leaves around it.

“Oh Lord, please let this be worthwhile,” I prayed under my breath as I unsnagged my sweater from another monstrous Russian thistle.

He answered.

Oh, Lord, you are seriously good. You gave me a gift of more than I imagined. Thank you.

And since he created me to be creative I played with the photos when I got home.

Here’s the thing, my other prayer yesterday was just wanting to know if he loved me. There are those out there who say I am deceived, I have disappointed my Lord and am heading for hell. In a still silent voice he spoke through riotous colour. “Seriously? What do you think? You just posted a scripture today about true believers having the mind of Christ available to them. Think with that mind.”

Right.

Father, out of Your honorable and glorious riches, strengthen Your people. Fill their souls with the power of Your Spirit  so that through faith the Anointed One will reside in their hearts. May love be the rich soil where their lives take root. May it be the bedrock where their lives are founded so that together with all of Your people they will have the power to understand that the love of the Anointed is infinitely long, wide, high, and deep, surpassing everything anyone previously experienced. God, may Your fullness flood through their entire beings.

This is a doxology of praise to the One with power that is beyond understanding.

Now to the God who can do so many awe-inspiring things, immeasurable things, things greater than we ever could ask or imagine through the power at work in us, to Him be all glory in the church and in Jesus the Anointed from this generation to the next, forever and ever. (Ephesians 3:16-21 The Voice)

Wow this blessed me–especially the prayer for strength, as I need it. God bless you BIG–I’m so thrilled that you found that special place full of colours. I’m wondering if you allow other bloggers to use your photos to accompany their poetry?–with full credit to you of course. If not, that’s quite alright.

    1. So glad this blessed you as well. My photos are dedicated to the glory of God -it’s his creation after all. They’re his. Thus far I have not felt a need to sell the images. (Who knows. That may change some day.) If you want to use them that’s fine with me. The only reason I ask for credit is to keep others from trying to make money from them or to manipulate them into something they were never intended to be. And because it’s courteous and a good habit to get into.

    1. Well, Mr. Apolojetics with a j, you may be aware that a large conference took place in the U.S. this past week which a well-known writer and preacher sponsored. It was categorically stated there that people who believe as I have come to in the past 6-7 years (that the gifts of the Spirit did not cease to operate after the death of the apostles who were with Jesus on earth [except for Paul], or with the arrival of the canon of scripture) are deceived and blaspheming the Holy Spirit by attributing to God miracles and signs that were actually (in their judgment) from satan.
These blogs explain what I have come to believe after careful study of scripture.

I confess this strange ire from people I have always considered to be brothers and sisters in Christ rather shocked me. I needed to seek the Lord. God is good and full of love and grace toward me in spite of myself -and I hope to extend that same grace to everyone He loves. Like a good Father Abba gives us all space to grow and learn.

      1. Okay, that’s a long article. But you sound sincere about your desire to do things right. My test for the Holy Spirit would be whether the results bring glory to Jesus. Even if not, I wouldn’t call it blasphemy against the Holy Spirit. It may very well be learning. Besides, we NEED the Holy Spirit to move and change this generation! Come, Holy Spirit. Teach us and change us. Fill us with your words and power to call people of every nation.
