In lazy apathy let stoics boast, their virtue fix’d:
’tis fix’d as in a frost;
contracted all, retiring to the breast;
but strength of mind is exercise, not rest.
– Alexander Pope
It takes courage to ponder, to puzzle, to wrestle with a new way of thinking.
It takes strength to fully engage feelings without fear of the overwhelming flood.
It takes wisdom to care deeply and still govern oneself wisely.
Isolating oneself is a way of preventing that “overwhelming flood”. Deep and meaningful post.

Is this plant Wintergreen or KinikiniK?

It’s not aromatic, has smooth-edged thick leaves and it grows at altitude in carpet clusters, so I’m pretty sure it’s kinnikkinnik, but they are probably related.
