I heard the children talking.
“The sun has gone behind the clouds,” said one, disappointment in his voice.
“No. The clouds just got in front of it,” said the other. “The sun is still there. Even if we can’t see it, it’s still there, else everything would die.”
We do not mourn as those without hope. God is still there.
Even though the fig trees have no blossoms,
and there are no grapes on the vines;
even though the olive crop fails,
and the fields lie empty and barren;
even though the flocks die in the fields,
and the cattle barns are empty,
yet I will rejoice in the Lord!
I will be joyful in the God of my salvation!
(Habakkuk 3:17,18)

Great post Charis. A friend gave me these verses a number of years ago and they are a great reminder in tough times to keep the right perspective towards God.

It’s all about perspective, isn’t it?

Beautiful. I have had these thoughts as I witnessed rising above the gloom in an airplane. The sun is always, always shining – we are often blocked from seeing it.

And sometimes, once when we have risen above the clouds, we can see how small that blockage is in the great grand scheme of things.
